I adore John Boyne, and his most recent work is one of my favourites. I love anything set in WW1, and this has shown me all sorts of other sides to what happened to families and individuals through those years. It's one of the most beautifully written books I have read. I won't say "I couldn't put it down" because I made myself; I rationed myself with it because I didn't want it to end. You know how when you've finished a particularly wonderful book you don't know quite what to do with yourself and wonder what on earth you're going to read next? I'm still wondering..
